EASTER SUNDAY 2008

Kids and cascarones made of a glorious, uproarious mess - part of the Easter celebration at our church.  Cascarones are a Mexican holiday tradition. Empty eggshells are dyed and refilled with confetti, then smashed on the heads of celebrants to bring good luck to both the smasher and smashee.  Mostly, though, it's a lot of fun and an excuse for children of all ages to run around and make a mess and have a good time doing something that would get them in big trouble under normal circumstances. The rest of the Easter observance was more traditional, even if the pastor and many of the congregation did celebrate communion with confetti in their hair.
