MISSIONS
MISSIONARIES:
The JC FUMC is in a
covenant Relationship with a missionary couple, Luis and Eunice Aramayo.
We contribute to the salary of Eunice Arias and Luis Aramayo as well as through special offerings to two of their projects: the Biblical and Technical Methodist Mayan School and the Children’s Christian Education Program.

DISASTER RESPONSE:
FUMC Johnson City has taken on the work of local area disaster response as a
Mission Project. In the early months of 2007 we qualified our Activities
Building as an American Red Cross Shelter, and trained several dozen of our
members and neighbors as shelter management personnel. We have had
subsequent training in disaster response topics and continue our mission to
plan, prepare and respond. For more information regarding FUMC-Johnson
City involvement in this, click on Disaster
Response. From this base, under George Barnett's leadership at the FUMC
conference level, we have formed the Blanco County Disaster Response Group to
serve these needs on a broader basis. For information on this, click

BLANCO COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Blanco County’s first Habitat House has been completeed. It is located at #8 Miranda Court in Creek View Estates adjacent to FM 2766. Volunteers from the FUMC worked as a group on Nov. 6, Jan. 6, Feb. 10, March 3 and March 14th, 2007. Other volunteers from the FUMC provided the lunch on these workdays. Several FUMC volunteers also worked during the week and on Saturdays with other groups. Dedication for the House occurred Saturday, May 5, 2007.

P.E.T. PROJECT TEXAS: P.E.T. stands for Personal Energy Transportation. They are hand-cranked 3-wheel vehicles that use tires suitable on dirt and grass areas. They are constructed by volunteers and shipped to over 60 different countries worldwide. The recipients are those who have lost the use of their legs due to landmines, polio, amputation or disease. Luling, TX is one of seven sites in the USA that makes the PETs. The FUMC adopted this project several years ago and are always looking for volunteers that would like to travel to Luling to spend a day doing construction, painting, and packing the boxes for shipment. Contact Mickey Little (868-7430) for details.
The PETs are shipped in heavy cardboard boxes; the “packing material” consists of used blue jeans, t-shirts, children’s clothes, women’s skirts/dresses, teddy bears, children’s toys, and clear plastic bottles with screw tops. These items are quite usable to those receiving the PETs. Place them in the labeled boxes in the Work Room across from the Church Office.

SEWING MACHINES WANTED: Do you have a sewing machine that you no longer use . . . or do you know someone that has one? Even if they aren’t working they are needed. The Colonia Ministries in the Rio Grande Conference knows of Methodists on either side of the Rio Grande River that could use the sewing machines for their own family or to help make a living. If you have one to donate, please contact Mickey Little.
