Methodist Healthcare Ministries (MHM) is a private, faith-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing medical, dental and health-related human services to low-income families and the uninsured in South Texas. MHM is one-half owner of the Methodist Healthcare System the largest healthcare system in South Texas. See more details at (www.mhm.org)

These services include primary care medical and dental clinics, support services like counseling, case management and social services, family wellness and parenting programs, and church-based community nursing programs.

Wesley Nurse Health Ministries serves almost 80 church sites throughout South Texas by providing Wesley Nurses to minister to those in need. Wesley Nurse Health Ministries is geographically the largest outreach program of MHM. Wesley nurse program was created to reach the under-served in our communities, through education, health promotion, and facilitation of resources. Wesley nurses collaborate with individuals, congregations, communities, agencies, and available resources to provide relevant meaningful services.

Wesley Nurse Services:
  • Health Education, such as Diabetes Classes, Hypertension, Nutrition - Group or Individual
  • Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure Screenings - for Groups and Individual
  • CPR for Friends and Family, Including Infant. (No certification card provided)
  • Support Groups (e.g., Alzheimers/Dementia, Grief, Weight Management)
  • Exercise Class (Chair Dance and Walk on Wednesday)
  • Healthy Eating and Cooking Classes
  • Health Education for Preschoolers, Elementary and Teens
  • Youth Programs: Bullying, Drug/Alcohol Use, Suicide, and First Aide for Babysitters
  • Coordinate Blood Drives
  • Prescription Assistance Program - Needy Meds Website
  • Help find resources for clients (e.g., Food Pantry, Medical care, Home Health, Pastoral care and other services available)
  • Health and Wellness Event Planning - Cancer Awareness, Health Fair, School Supplies Program and Child Safety Seat
  • Provide Prayer and Spiritual Support
  • Home Visits

  • Chair dance exercise every day at 09:30am M-W-F at the Methodist Church.
